Research Projects

ASD-CARC’s multi-disciplinary research uses many research methods and brings together more than 70 researchers, clinicians and close to 3000 families across Canada and the United States and elsewhere in our mission to better understand the possible causes, origins and effects of Autism Spectrum Disorders and to identify better treatment options and earlier interventions which will improve the quality of life for all individuals on the autism spectrum.

Collaboration among researchers and families is key to help us answer some of the essential questions facing individuals with ASDs and their families:

  1. What are the different environmental and genetic factors that may contribute to the development of an ASD?
  2. Can we identify the subgroups of ASDs?
  3. What are the best methods for earlier and easier identification of an ASD?
  4. What are the best treatment options for people with an ASD?

This section of the website summarizes some of the key research currently underway at ASD-CARC.
